There will be no change in my opinion, those questions can still be remembered and spread on the web so....
Only people who will be finding it difficult are the paper ones who will go in first without experience

Re: Poll : How will performance-based questions impact the value of Microsoft certs

They can be remembered, but not as easily as multiple choice regurgitation. Plus, it is easy for Microsoft to slightly change the requirements of the scenario (much easier than changing a multiple choice question), invalidating any memorization that has occurred.

That being said, the Microsoft scenarios seem awfully easy to me, especially since many of the icons and programs on the simulated desktop are not even clickable. In any event, the new simulations are a step in the right direction, even if they're not yet the complete solution.

I'm hedging but I think they will increase the value of the certs as it does take a little more skill to remember which icons to click.

Re: Poll : How will performance-based questions impact the value of Microsoft certs

For people who know there stuff there will be no change or even the tests will be easier. When I perform a task, most of the time I know I'm correct because I will recognize the screen that is shown. If you have to memorize all screens to find the screen meant in the question, one could have a hard time doing so.

Re: Poll : How will performance-based questions impact the value of Microsoft certs

I think the performance testing is great because it is "more real" then simply remembering information from a book. At the same time I agree with Tinus, for people who know their stuff it should make the certs even easier.

Overall though I think it will have little impact of the status of the certs.

Re: Poll : How will performance-based questions impact the value of Microsoft certs

As I see it it will make it more difficult for those who pass by trying to memorize questions, but for those really studying, it would make it much easier. Most of the time I know exactly how to do things, or where to look intuitively. It seems like this would eliminate any of the questions people feel ''tricked'' on.

Re: Poll : How will performance-based questions impact the value of Microsoft certs

It may be both:
Makes tests more difficult and greatly improves value of certs
There will be little change

This definitely has changes and so would improve SKILLS of an Administrator more. This proves how precise an admin is in detecting and troubleshooting tasks
