And have my company's e-mail data contained on an external system outside my control? No thanks. If that were Microsoft's only option, I'd be looking to other solutions.

It might come to that. If that were the case, you could possibly be looking for open source solutions.

Also something to think about with some organisations is that there is stated policy that email communications are core business and should remain under direct control of the organisation.

I could. There are plenty of proprietary ones as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think housing your data outside of your control would have SOX implications for public companies.

Yeah, and we all know SOX and HIPPA are strictly enforced, just like anti-trust law. And the SEC enforces reg FD and reg SHO too. LOL, JK (obviously).

I take that back. The gov does enforce rules that make the markets less free, like the "free-ride rule". IRS will jump all over you for violating that. Doesn't matter that it's bankers who are really getting a free ride here.

Anywho... still no anti-trust enforcement and still no bailout for technology. We're all doomed.
