Windows patch cripples XP with blue screen, users claim
Tuesday's security updates from Microsoft have crippled Windows XP PCs with the notorious Blue Screen of Death (BSOD), users have reported on the company's support forum. Complaints began early yesterday, and gained momentum throughout the day.

Re: Windows patch cripples XP with blue screen, users claim
The Patrick Barnes blog says that the BSOD occurs on XP computers only if they had an existing virus infection.

Well if that is true then MS just did us all favor putting those computers offline. :)

Pffft. People often want to blame Microsoft for their problems... particularly those who aren't responsible enough to take care of themselves. Sorry, no sympathy here, if this is indeed a case of a virus infection causing BSODs. |
Re: Windows patch cripples XP with blue screen, users claim
Seems that it's a rootkit infection that causes the problems (according to Symantec at H-Online).
