Outlook 2003

I have the box unchecked to send and recieve at startup, but everytime I start Outlook '03, it sends and recieves automatically.

Any other setting I missed?

i have been looking in my own outlook 2003, and i don't see such a check box. are you perhaps talking about the 'send immediately when connected' check box? because that is something completely different.

i'm not sure how to disable the send/receive on startup. almost everywhere on the internet they talk about disabling the send/receive schedule, but when i look at my own config, that is already disabled, but it still receives at startup. maybe it differs if you're in cached mode or not. or maybe it differs if you're connecting to a pop3 or an exchange mailbox.
what's your config?

Put it into Offline mode...if you're not connected to an Exchange server.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to disable the send/receive at start up?
