In my opinion, you can tamper with any type of voting system. It's just if you can trust the ones who count them.
Larger types of votes can be distributed on various isolated systems and then combine them.
The only thing i'd like to know is if they would track who voted for what.

I know of IDC. This company conducts a lot of surveys. I think you can get your answer here (http://www.idc.com/prodserv/trackers.jsp)
Who voted them? Not sure... This remains confidential with the company itself.

As stated, it is quite easy to tamper the score. Whit a good mailhostsystem one could spoof as many e-mail addresses as needed, so a valid mail address is not good enough to make sure someone only votes one time (if that is importante). IP-address can not be used because then a family can only vote one time and also can easy be changed.
This all is true for internet voting (for songcontest or granddaddy of the year). In the Netherlands we use electronic voting for elections and they are considered save. It works with a identification (based on a special card personally send to the voter) and then the vote itself on a vote counting machine. One can only vote ones.

I imagine, an election type of system would probably have some sort of login to control multiple votes. A survey is not that critical so I guess it depends on the subject being voted on.

Also, if there would be a 'login', a specific vote could be linked to a person and that is violating the law on privacy in the Netherlands.

I would trust it as much as I trust online gambling!

LMAO! personally I don't think voting should be allowed on a public communications circuit

It's as vulnerable as any other type of voting, including paper voting. Don't tell me that it's much more difficult to substitute a paper ballot, a punch card, or the results from a touch-screen. I don't buy it.

When we have elections here in canada they simply mail a registration card out to confirm your address and things like that then you just bring it to the poling station with you to vote.
I don't even remember if they check id or not.
Even so, it's run by voluneers so i don't think there is any extensive training.
If for example a community of 300 would suddenly submit 500 votes there would be some red flags raised. Never mind, if 300 would vote, that would raise red flags too you never get 100% turnout.
It's possible that a few fraudulent votes can get through but enough votes to make a difference would leave some sort of trail.
